Odessa is a manufacturing hub but there is a housing shortage.I think there is at least one warehouse there....like Dollar General or something like that. The Midland/Odessa area is really booming right now.I don't know what CNC is but I know there are machine shops in Odessa.

I also don't know who CNC is but Lubbock is fast growing and has some of Texas' best medical facilities. Texas Tech University has a medical school.

I once worked as a machinist (Lufkin Industries) but not in Lubbock. I don't know how Lubbock rates in the machinist trade world but there never seems to be one close enough.

It's 6 degrees here tonight so I dare not tout our winter weather. At any rate, best of luck.

Fort Worth uses CNC machinists on the aerospace industry here. Look at Lockheed Martin, Vought, and Bell Helicopter.

CNAs mostly work in nursing homes, although the pay is low. There are jobs for them in hospitals, but they are harder to get.

Hi alll and thanx for your input we're really looking forward to checking these areas out in the spring

CNC = Computer Numeric Control which is a state of the art lathe with multiple cutting heads
in most cases that can cut material down to specs within 1 ten thousandth of an inch or .0001 inches.
The computerized part of it lets one load a program, then set it and forget it. They often cut the part
out in one go unless other steps or dimensions call for it.

Used to work as a cnc machinist and went to school for it to better understand the process and I can write cnc programs and also use CATIA programming as well. Problem? I'm deaf. Most people don't want to hire a deaf guy because that means they have to figure a way to communicate with me. You can find cnc machining jobs in the DFW area or Austin or Houston mostly. Can find some in San Antonio too. As for Lubbock? Not really. Lubbock's not big enough to have multiple cnc jobs. You could consider Oklahoma or Kansas. Wichita, KS is aerospace manufacturing capitol of the world so there's tons of cnc jobs. My issue is I can't really do deburring processes anymore due to severe early onset arthritis. I can on some days and some days no...so I've been looking for lathe, laser cnc operator or water jet cnc operator jobs....those tend to have very little deburring. I do not have actual work experience on those except for class room experience on the lathe. I have more experience on 3, 4, 5 & 6 axis machining plus 1 year 6 months experience on cnc router use. I still want to move back to Texas being a native born Texas, lol. You can also try medical manufacturing. A lot of them use cnc machining too. Oil field work too. Good luck.
