Two things.

1. Move.

2. Be more positive.

Please don't feel you life is over at 28.

You are young and are already moving towards positive change. Yes, fresh starts and "geographical therapy" (moving away) can give you a boost, even if you encounter hardships.

Good luck!

Youre still young, though if you cant get a girlfriend in a college town like Denton I dont hold much hope.

Your literacy for 28 is horrendous.

As I've said for many years on this website, not every city is for everyone. Anyone who lives in any city is going to have likes and dislikes, a point of view that's different from others, and his/her own mindset, and, of course, the freedom to choose. Denton is a nice city with so much to offer, including two fine university campuses. It's also growing.

If you'd be happier someplace else, then go seek it out. You mentioned San Antonio and Houston, and the economies of both cities are as good as anything offered in the D/FW area. So, too, are the opportunities. Shoot for success. Just take the initiative.

I grew up in Highland Village, and spent a fair amount of time in Denton. I completely agree with you. That town has never appealed to me. I got accepted to UNT twice (long story), and I just could not get into it. I ended up graduating from UTSA in San Antonio.

I am only 25, and I understand feeling trapped in a city that you don't want to be in. What is stopping you from picking up and starting over somewhere new?

Denton was awesome a few years ago when I still live in Dallas. I used to go up almost every weekend because there were a lot more punk/hardcore shows up there than Dallas.

It sounds like you DID find jobs there. Why do you keep getting fired? Neither Houston nor San Antonio will "provide you with a better life."
