Such a shocker! LOL I am 15 miles from my work and it takes anywhere from 50 minutes to an hour and a half to get to work each morning. I came in early today and even leaving my house at 6:20am, I didn't pull into the parking lot at my office until right at 7am. Going home in the afternoons is a consistent 45-55 minutes if I leave right at 4:30pm. I hate this city for that very reason.

But Roo, you don't live in Austin .

But yeah, big surprise. However, my 6 mile commute from SW Austin takes about 12-15 minutes, so I am not complaining.

That's nuts.

I work 25 miles away and it takes 25-35 minutes to get to work each morning but I live in San Antonio.

My commute is about the same 24 miles Bulverde Rd. near 1604 to SE Military via Mc Allister Frwy./IH 37 takes 30 minutes, from the office parking lot to Bitters Rd. exit 20 minutes not bad from one side of town southeast to another north central.

Austin + 200 people a day coming in. (1/3 from Htown, 1/3 from DFW & 1/3 from SoCal.....all of them proclaim that they are used to one hour commutes so they live South & work North.....or live far West & work downtown.....then complain about commutes) = Worst Traffic in Texas (but only for num nuts who created their OWN commute).

I wasn't surprised that Austin made that list. Everyone seems to mention the traffic woes when commenting on life in Austin. People will still move to Austin, and the city/area will probably drag its feet on dealing with the issues. Still I'm sure the severe traffic woes have some good points. I imagine some people decide a fast growing traffic congested Metro is not for them. So a few less people for Austin to deal with.

I live off Barton Springs near downtown. My office is downtown, 1.5 miles from my condo. It takes 25 - 30 minutes to drive during the morning and evening rush. If I walk I can get there faster, so I often do. The congestion on the lake crossings is maddening, even on the weekends now.
