Wanting to move away from where I am (Kansas City) next spring or summer, and I've really been in a quandary as to where to go. High on my list of places to consider is San Antonio or Austin, Raleigh NC, and Phoenix AZ.

I have friends in both Raleigh and Phoenix, but for some reason I keep coming back to look at the SA area. I'm a very active single female in my early 40s...is SA a good choice for someone looking to find an active social scene in my age group? I like outdoor activities of all kinds -- not particularly huge on the bar scene -- but movies, concerts, et cetera are all good.

I'm self-employed so that's not really an issue, and from what I've seen your real estate market isn't that bad compared to most cities. Right now I guess I'm looking for pros and cons that would swing my decision one way or the other, hate not yet knowing where I'm going to be in 6-8 months!

I realize it's been a while since you've written this, and if you are still out there, Talia, have you come to any decision on what you might do? Are you still planning on coming here?

San Antonio has a cheap housing market but it's not that Intellectual. I would say Houston if your a professional but Austin if your looking for scenery and overall class

Then that's the area you should focus on. I'm a big believer in intuition.

A couple of age fortysomething friends of mine recently moved from the West Coast to New Braunfels; just north of SA, and love it. Lots of outdoor activities and you're at the doorstep of both SA and Austin.
