True.. so is Houston.. so is Dallas.. so is El Paso.. so is Lubbock..

I think it's futile to tight cast one city, ie.. Fort Worth, as the most authentically Texan city.

San Antonio holds on to much of Texas' Tejano heritage. Houston and DFW along with East Texas have a wealth of black heritage. Austin and surrounding areas Czech and German etc.. Agriculture and ranching are shared by many regions within the state, along with O&G.

How in the world would a person identify one city as the most authentic?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Midland or Odessa. It's probably changed the least over the years compared to other medium to big Texan cities due to its isolation.

Midland Odessa has changed a whole lot since i have moved here.we used to be ghost towns practically when i moved here decades ago
