Hello all,

Here I am again, looking to make another move. My wife and I are in the panhandle of Florida for a little longer before heading back to Maine but looking to head further west for next winter with an eye towards a retirement location in 10 years or so.

I work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico for half the year, a month at a time. When not on the ship, I am home restoring older American cars from the 40s, 50s and 60s. I'd like to move my operation (really, just a hobby) west to a more drier climate. This could get me closer to my present work in the GoM as well as staging me closer to resources of dry, rust-free parts for these older cars.

So, I am looking around the Texas Hill Country. I've been scouring websites that allude to old and/or abandoned gas stations. Next will be libraries and book sellers before the driving around begins in earnest. My thinking is that it would be kind of cool to bring one of these old gas stations back to life as a bodyshop and display area for my cars.

Anyone have any thoughts on this possible plan? Anyone seen a good prospect in his.her travels perchance?

Ralph M Bohm

If you are talking about buying an old gas station you have to be concerned about - LUST.

Leaking Underground Storage Tanks....... You could be buying a major problem that could cost you a lot of money to repair.

I would find some other type of building.
