This is true, but you have plenty that say the opposite as well. Southern California is a pretty cool place to live. That weather.

Sure why not? Maybe the liberals will bring more ideas like the socialist government subsidy program used to lure Toyota to Texas.

Default Climate

quote=madrone2k;34572320]I agree that it's good for the Dallas area, and it adds to the city's growing clout as a magnet for HQs of a diverse set of businesses. However, I don't see that it does anything for the rest of the state, except perhaps for those who want to make weak claims to bragging rights.

Torrance is mostly pretty nice, with a great climate. North Dallas is nice too, albeit with not as nice a climate. Hope the folks who move will find it a change for the better, overall.[/quote]

It's all about business climate.

Never a fan of Toyota. i won't ignore their success though, especially with the Camry... but have you seen those new Tundras? eww...

Even a Ford has a better towing capacity than a Tundra...

Might need to add congrats to Denton County as well. The intersection of the Sam Rayburn Tollway (121) and Legacy Drive is in Collin but the Denton county line is just a few hundred yards to the west. The site is the southwest corner of that intersection, the building would pretty much have to abut Legacy to be totally in Collin.

I think I read the site is the NW parcel at the intersection of legacy and hq not sure how far west the county line is at that location. I did hear it was in frisco isd

Toyota today said it was not lured by Perry, that the move was logistic. They picked between multiple locations from North Carolina to Denver.
When Toyota came to the US they set up in LA/Torrance because all of their vehicles were imported through the port of Los Angeles. Today 75% of their US sales are produced domestically mainly in the south. Toyota said the incentives were accepted but didn't play into the decision.

Couldn't figure out how to copy the map picture, but if you go to Bing maps and zoom in on that intersection, you will see the county line running north and south. Google Maps don't show the county line. You can see JCPenney's campus in Collin but Frito Lay to the west is just over the Denton county line.

I doubt that San Antonio was even in the running - convenient air travel figures big in these corporate locations. DFW airport offers that, San Antonio does not.
