I personally think these rules should be getting more restrictive not less. Driving through Maine with not a billboard in sight just added to that state's appeal for me.

I agree with you - horrible idea.

Personally, I wish Texas would ban billboards too (though I know it will never happen). People already have too many distractions while driving, billboards are ugly, and really - who pays attention to them anyway?

Clearly people do pay attention to them if the businesses continue to place their advertisements on them.

I also wish that Texas would ban billboards, one of the ugliest blights to our environment.

I don't mind those electronic billboards. Wish Houston had a few of those in place of the numerous regular billboards. They were installing a few near where I lived in DFW.

The electronic billboards are OK as long as they are nowhere near my house! I stayed at a friend's house in Korea with a big electronic billboard outside.

Tough to sleep with a constant light shining in your face. With that said they definitely look better in commercial areas than do regular billboards.
