I've been dogged by CLA for a couple of years now to attend one of their "complementary" estate planning workshops. I actually might have the free time to attend one this week but I won't go unless I hear from someone who actually attended one. My estate is far below the federal estate tax exemption so I am skeptical of how much value I might get out of the workshop. So I would like to ask:

What was the year and location you attended?
What are they selling and how much of a hard sell is there?
After the workshop, could you have just walked out without a problem?
Did you find the information useful or was it a waste of time?
Was it interesting?
Would you send a close friend or a relative (that you like) to one?
Did they attempt to arrange personal follow up meetings?

Please add any other info you think might be useful. I can buy my own lunch therefore I don't want to be sitting through a useless, boring, sales program just to get to the free lunch at the conclusion.

Thanks

They are hyping an insurance annuity program. Do your research on these before considering attending.

Thought so, but wanted to determine if there was anything else to learn there that might be of value. If that is their major point I'll buy my own lunch - somewhere else.

Thanks for the reply.
