We are moving from southern california to texas. We are thinking either Spring or Tomball.
We have a 4 year old and a baby on the way so we are looking for a neighborhood with good school and friendly neighbors.
My husband works for autonation and his job can transfer.
Im nervous but california is waayyyyy too expensive.
any advice ?
im looking to find out about how much utility bills are, how health insurance is, the cost of living, gas prices, and which city and areas are recommended?

Thanks!!!

I would vote for Tomball.
But you could bring your questions over to the Houston thread for more replies.
I don't live in either place but Spring has a greater chance for flooding. Again, do your research.

Gas prices are around $2.45/gallon

I'd live in The Woodlands. It's expensive for Texas, but I'd say it's still cheaper than California. The Woodlands is just next to Spring, but nicer. They have good schools, good businesses, and good shopping. You can drive to Old Town Spring to look around and shop. The Woodlands is very family-oriented.

Here's a website that gives you an idea of cost-of-living in The Woodlands. You can search other cities/towns on it. Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

If I get a great job in Houston, most likely I'd live in Magnolia or Conroe, maybe Montgomery, get more for my money, but I don't mind traffic going to work in Houston. I have no children, so my situation is different from yours. I don't know how would your husband feel about it.
