Moving to Texas? Expect traffic and drought (Opinion) - CNN.com

We tend to read/answer the same questions over and over again on this forum.

The article above seems to relay many of the same discussions we see on here.

Just thought I'd share.

I wouldn't call it fascinating. It was one giant *****fest about our problems. The ends justify the means though - if it keeps people from moving here.

3, 2, 1...

Everyone who has either lived here for over 34.5 months, their momma was born within 60 miles of Austin or who once rode in an elevator with Stevie Ray Vaughan may now commence bashing those who have lived here for a mere 34 months, their momma was born 61 mies from Austin or they saw Jimmie Vaughan on an escalator once.

Some very valid points, but some minor corrections:

Quote:
Lake Travis, the jewel of the Texas Hill Country, which is also the water supply for Austin's swelling population, has not been full since 2007.
Was full in 2010

Quote:
The city's water utility director recently warned that the reservoir would run dry by 2016, even with severe use restrictions.
COULD, not WOULD

Quote:
we ought to have a chat about our onerous property tax rates in Texas and what they do to your prospective house payments.
Yes, at the same time you talk about your total tax burden. It may be good or bad, but there is more to it than just property tax.

Quote:
We can also talk about how the legislature never gives school districts the money they need to operate
Most of the money comes from local sources, and it is the distribution more than the amount that is an issue.

The article also failed to mention scorpions, spiders, rattlesnakes, Chupacabra, ebola and Californians.*

*In order of danger.

>>Green Lake, near the Gulf Coast, is the state's only natural body of water;

Caddo Lake?

Plus the standard definition of "body of water" includes rivers.

Yeah, wondered about Caddo, but it is a beaver dam if not a human dam.

But what about the dreaded offspring.....the Chupacabrafornian. Picks up a bottle of "two buck chuck" at TJs prior to his mischievous blood sucking activities throughout South & Central Texas.
