They are supposed to - the Census is a count of all people living in the United States, regardless of citizenship.

Of course, actually counting illegal immigrants is a bit harder in practice, as many (falsely) believe that the Census would hand over their information to the immigration authorities.

But as far as the Census is concerned, a person living in the US is a person living in the US.

I love Fort Worth, I'm not sure how long it will take for it to pass Austin but Fort Worth has grown rapidly, each time when I look at websites they say it's ranked 18th,17th,16th,15th and those are in a two year difference so that shows that not even the census can keep up, but be expecting it to become bigger then Austin, maybe by 2030 by then Fort Worth will have over 1 million people and might even catch up to Dallas population later in the 2050s hopefully I'll be alive by then lol

If Fort Worth is booming, then Austin must be exploding. At the current rate, Austin is actually widening the population gap between itself and Fort Worth. Fort Worth's current population is 758,000 Austin's is now more than 820,000. Fort Worth is only growing by 2.25% a year at this point to Austin's 3.8%. Percentage-wise, 2.25%, while impressive, is not even in the top 15 cities for growth as a percentage. Austin is number 3 in the country for growth percentage wise. At this rate, Austin will be further apart from Fort Worth at the next census. Fort Worth's growth has slowed some since the last decade, while Austin's has blown up even more. It probably will move up a couple of ranks in population nation-wide from its current place at 16th, but it is not plausible it will pass Austin at all with the latest data. Interesting enough, if the rates continue at this pace until the next census, Austin with be at almost 1.1 million people within the city to FW's 909,000. That's a projected spread of about 200,000 compared to today's 62,000 person spread. This is new census data by the way.

Fort Worth population now tops 758,000 | City of Fort Worth, Texas

Austin Population Now Larger Than San Francisco – #13 | Capital City African American Chamber of Commerce

LOVE me some Fort Worth! To me, Fort Worth encompasses everything that's so good and fun and wholesome and interesting about Texas. If I had to live in or near a large city, I would definitely choose Fort Worth!

Yeah, Fort Worth has grown, but Austin has grown MUCH faster.

You could even say Austin has outgrown far beyond its expectations. (But keep in mind, this thread was started 4 years ago...)

There's more to a great city experience than simply growth. A city can grow so fast that it loses some of the key ingredients that make it unique.

Actually Austin passed SF last year and FW too will be passing it soon.

And my opinion has not changed, I think FW will get to 1M before Austin.
