Anybody else voting for her... I think between the two mainstream choices she is the one I am voting for.

Looks like she is now getting national attention. Us libertarians can finally vote someone into office who understands our views on taxes.

Plagiarizing an online blog...

After the first televised tussle in mid January, where Medina went unassailed by her fellow candidates, her poll numbers jumped from nowhere to 12-15%. That level of support, although well behind Perry and Hutchison at the moment, nonetheless puts her in position to force a runoff between them after the March 2 primary, something Perry doesn't want to happen. Medina's main campaign point is that she thinks property taxes should be eliminated and replaced with sales tax in the state to make taxation so that everybody would be contributing to financially supporting the state, not just property owners.

Take a look at the January sales tax numbers and re-think replacing property taxes with a broadened sales tax.

Sales tax revenue was off almost 3% for 2009 and January 2010 was off 14.2% from January of '09.

If you want a bunch of California-style bankrupt schools and cities, replacing the property tax with a 14% sales tax is the way to do it.

Bottom line, the property tax replacement isn't going to happen, and quite frankly I don't think Medina winning the primary will, either.

Plus how can you elect a governor who doesn't believe in the rule of law? Medina illegally carries a concealed handgun without a permit because she doesn't think the law applies to her. Sorry but last time I looked we don't get to pick and choose which laws to obey and which to break.

Medina can't do more than force a runoff for the two frontrunners.

Foreclosures caused by outrageous property taxes don't do much for state income, either. In this economic climate, there isn't a very good answer to falling state revenues. I'm more concerned about my own falling revenue.

Where in the 2nd amendment did she break a law.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of
a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms
shall not be infringed.

The beauty of the sales tax is it applies evenly to all people and businesses. There will be no more special tax breaks to farmers who have a special exemption under the current tax laws or tax breaks to businesses in order to get them to relocate here at the expense of the ordinary person.

As for sales tax, she is going to force the tax and spend crowd out of office by waking up the masses. The next time you are at Wal-Mart to buy a new gun and the sales tax is at %22 and you pay $85 in taxes for something, you will realize just how much in taxes you are paying each and every day vs having to pay $400 a month in property taxes by check to a mortgage company who then forwards it. This takes the sting out of paying taxes, I can tell you that if the federal tax man had to show up every week at payday and collect $200 out of every check, he would have about a dozen cops with him as his life would be in danger.

EVERYBODY pays it. I just pay it through rent.

XodoX, Isn't that the truth? I don't understand how this is overlooked so often. Back when I owned a rent house, when the taxes were increased on it, I would increase the rent to offset the expense. Yes, higher property taxes affect everyone.

Is she a real libertarian or a fake libertarian? Civil liberties (2cd Amendment, gay rights, drugs) are just as central as economic liberties to libertarian philosophy. If she's a legit libertarian, she has my vote.

She is totally against gay marriage. She is very conservative in most respects.

Glad she came out a bit stonger in clarifying her position regarding the "truthers." But it shouldn't have taken a week.
