We go to the lake, but I don't know much about the town. It's a surprisingly clean area and it's pretty.

My mother is from there. Nice area overall. Very cheap cost of living. A large portion of the population works at Fort Hood.

It's the nicest place to live in the Killeen-Temple area and has the best schools. I wouldn't want to live there and commute to the Austin area though which is what I picked up from your post. My basic impression of Belton is that it is probably your best option if you NEED to live and work in that part of Central Texas but isn't so special that one would necessarily move there just because it is Belton.

I think this is very accurate. Although at one point in time I briefly contemplated living in Belton and commuting to Waco.

I lived in Belton off and on over 10 years. Great place to live in that area. Two large lakes (Belton, Stillhouse Hollow), easy access to I-35 for trips to larger cities, decent schools, and a fair amount of amenities.

Both Belton and Temple have some nice residential areas that a casual passer-by wouldn't be aware of. Both would be suitable for S&W employment/living.
