Your experience is what you make out of it. It's all up to you. Racism is like stupidity, we'll never get rid of it.
Maybe but the OP was asking about our experiences.

Texas Mayor Outraged After ‘White People Only’ Stickers Placed on Austin Businesses | KTLA

This was weird. It was an isolated instance by some nut putting "white only" stickers on Austin businesses. So even in liberal austin you'd get your occasional racist loon.

I agree. Unfortunately racist losers can be found anywhere. With that said, I think OP would be fine visiting the Hill Country. It might feel isolating at times if you don't see other faces, sure, but you're not living there, just visiting.

It turns out the stickers might be from an activist group that was trying to bring up questions about gentrification and economic segregation in Austin. Still, it was in bad taste.

Thanks guys for being so understanding. Your answers were great. Yes....racism is something we will never get rid of. I was shocked to go on YT recently and see a group of AA called The black Israelites, degrade Whites and Asians and IR couples. Some people even cried. The hatred was unbelievable... They're like the KKK. So sad folks are so evil...that ppl have to wonder if they can even go to certain town without being harmed. Smh. Thanks anyways guys!!

I'm not taking up for the Black Hebrew Israelite's because I don't agree with their point of view at all and they are bit extreme but I would never compare them to the KKK. The KKK were literally a homegrown terrorist group that has and still does in certain parts of the country go out there way to terrorize black ppl and attack and murder black ppl. Don't believe me go to some of the rural areas in the south where it's no ppl of color and you'll see the difference real quick. The Black Hebrew Israelite's are just overly religious nuts that yell at ppl on the street corner. You can walk right past them and ignore them.

With that said I been to the hill country with my gf's family and we were literally like one of the few black ppl in the area. I think I saw maybe 3 or 4 other black families in the part of the Hill Country. We were on a resort there and even though it was predominately white population who rarely encounters ppl of color everybody seemed friendly and laid back. Went inside some grocery stores and a restaurant and didn't even have people gawking at us or anything. Atleast not blatantly staring. Funny thing is the 2 times I experienced racism in the Hill Country happen to be in LIBERAL PARADISE Austin. I didn't experience one directly but I heard a woman on a bicycle randomly told another black man to "GET OUT THE WAY N*GG*R".
