We're in the Marble Falls, Horsehoe Bay area and we see them fairly often. Foxes too, but no WILY COYOTES chasing the roadrunners!

Used to be very common when I lived in G'town as a kid. Dunno if they still are. My folks out near Willow City (F'Burg area) have a pair in their yard.

I was in Turkey, TX not too long ago and saw a very large roadrunner at the side of the road. I told him to wait til I could get a good picture, but he didn't listen, took off fast!

Interesting thread. I haven't seen one in quite a while, but maybe that is because I don't get out hunting and fishing and taking country roads as much as I used to!

*snaps fingers* This thread reminds me of another I want to start with. Gimme a minute, y'all...! LOL

I saw one in San Antonio years back, it surprised me and scared me half to death ... they are huge! Took me a minute to figure out what it was. Wish I would have seen more, I love birds/birding.

Yeah, seen them there too. As well as Wimberly area.

Don't see them in the coastal Houston area, but we definitely have the toy-dog-snatching wily coyotes!

I used to live in Southwest Missouri - near Branson, and every year we would have a roadrunner or two in our yard for a few weeks. Confused us the first time we saw him but he became a regular.

I'm just south of Fort Worth in the Burleson area and I see them all the time. They will come right to the house, walk around on the sidewalk, into the flowerbeds and even perch on the railing around the front porch! Funny thing, I had neen seen a baby roadrunner and had never even given it much thought until one day our cat came up with one. It was still alive, so we took it over to a friend of ours who takes in wounded birds and nurses them back to health. The poor little baby roadrunner didn't make it though. She said birds rarely survive after being attacked by a cat. It was sad.
