If loud noises bother your child so much why would you move into a dense neighborhood?
We moved in there before we had children, and it isn't really feasible (financially and due to medical/educational needs) to move completely rural (which would definitely help). Honestly, the dense neighborhood is great most of the time, very little in the way of the specific types of noise that bother our daughter, and the gradual adaption the results from being around the noise is helpful in the long run. We deal with them as best we can, since they are perfectly legal and normal noises. Conversely, why would someone who wants to shoot off fireworks move to a place where they are illegal?

And then you have the audacity to go tell others how to live. I've got news for you, the world doesn't revolve around you or your child.
Not asking anyone to live how 'we' want them, just within the law. And honestly, I did not care about fireworks before we had kids. The world does not (nor do we expect it) to revolve around our child or us. Abiding by the law is a little broader than just revolving around us.

My point was more along the lines that, if FWs are illegal where you are living, the police my respond to specific complaints whereas they are unlikely to respond without such complaint.

Thanks for the replies, some of which hit on the bigger issue. People want to do what they want to do and many don't care whether it's rude or inconsiderate. Then the anger and backlash if you say anything. I have a right to enjoy my property. Having to hunker down while you shoot bottle rockets over my house in the name of "fun" or "my god-given right" just isn't my idea of the way the world should work.

If you say anything, then you get all this negative response.

Go out into the country, out to the lake, out to the park and shoot all the FW you want. Enjoy yourself, clean up the mess and head home.
