Looking for a place for a weekend in late October. Would prefer a place with a great view but under 200/night. If you have a recommendation, please share your reasons.

The Holiday Inn Express in Marble Falls sits up on a hilltop and has a lovely view of the lake and sunsets. Ask for a room that faces west so you have the view!

Check Groupon....they've had quite a few deals in the Hill Country lately.

Are you looking for a resort, a full service hotel/motel, or a private home? I know there are several B&B services that operate in and around Fredericksburg that have literally hundreds of properties for rent. Two that we have used are "First class B&B" and "Gastehaus Schmidt". We have always been very pleased with the properties we have stayed at. That said, in these sorts of locations, you have to be prepared to bring your own groceries, cook etc and they usually require a 2 night minimum (then again, many resorts require that).

How many people?

Where in the Hill Country? Destinations are several hours apart! (end to end)
Hills / countryside or village / town?
Rugged terrain or Waterfront? (not Wimberley!)

Holiday Inn sounds to be on the CHEAP end with a good view! There are many very pretty lodges / resorts.
Fredricksburg specializes in hospitality.

I travel via Hospitality Guest Homes $10/ night worldwide. Hill Country hospitality stays have been delightful (and what brought me to luv the Hill Country 25 yrs ago, and later to establish a seasonal home here).

From the host profile, I choose a farm, often I get a guest cabin and several times the whole farmhouse (when hosts need to travel while I care for their livestock).
