If you do read the link it says that wine CAN be bought at retail establishments for resale. So your friends are fine, it's just beer and liquor that can't be.

Haha! But it's TRUE.

I know, I know - truth can be a rarity around here, but there you have it.

Actually, in the name of absolute truth, thinking back on it, though I did say originally that they bought wine and liquor from a retailer, I only witnessed them buying wine from a retailer. Not knowing that there would be any difference, I just assumed that's where they got a lot of their alcoholic beverages in general. So I really have no idea whether they were buying liquor from a retailer or not - we never discussed it and I never saw them do it.
