I have been offered a job in the Waco-Temple area and am looking at relocating with my wife from Western Massachusetts. We would be looking for a rental house or duplex at first. Someone suggested looking in the Belton area as it is slightly more upscale. Our budget is in the $1000 a month area so not sure what we could expect for that kind of money.

My wife will also have to look for a job once we get there. The company she currently works for is a insurance company that handles health insurance policies for colleges. She currently is a claims examiner but also has extensive experience in both customer service as well as general office experience. How difficult would it be for her to find work in the area?

I'm sure I will come up with more questions but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Belton is Upscale? I would point you more towards Temple. It will still be over a 40 mile drive to work.

My company is actually located in Temple so if Temple is the better location I am perfectly fine with that.

Temple will give you more and better neighborhoods, school districts, shopping, and jobs. Belton has never been Upscale.
I owned property there at George Wilson Rd for 20 years, and my kids went to the Belton schools for the year of 93/94. I packed everything thing up in June 94 and left.

The job is in Temple. We have no kids. It will just be myself, my wife and a cat.

Then live in Temple. I35 is currently being totally reconstructed, so the less time you have to drive it, the better. Baylor Scott & White healthcare is HQ'd in Temple so that would be a starting point for jobs for your wife.

We are leaning toward Temple. Any areas that we need to avoid? Thank you for the idea on Baylor Scott & White. How are utility costs?

If you can give the general area your job is located, I can give you an idea on areas to look for housing. Temple has been expanding to the west and south, if you want to live in somewhat newer areas of the city.

Electric bill depends on the company you sign up with and the rate that is offered to you. You want to find out what the base charge will be plus what the energy charge amount is. Different companies offer different plans, shop around for the best deal for your lifestyle.

You don't want to drive on I35 any more than you have to. Look in Temple.
