We've been here for 5 years and we're finally getting ready to PCS this summer. The first recommendation I have is Copperas Cove. Unless you like living with bars on your windows, don't choose Killeen. Harker Heights is nice, but a little bit more expensive. Everywhere else (Belton, Kempner, Lampasas) you're looking at a 30 min+ commute on 190, which has more car accidents then you can shake a stick at.

Good luck!

if you live in Lampasas Kempner or the other areas, you really dont have to drive 190 much-the 190 part thru Kempner/Lampasas is very rural and not congested AT ALL, and once ya hit Copperas Cove, ya just drive thru town (get OFF 190) and take Tank Destoryer gate onto post....i touch 190 for just a brief minute or so...it's a nice leisurely drive..........no probs here! LOVE IT HERE!!!
