Fort Worth really needs to start pulling their weight.

And they wonder why everyone collectively refers to The Metroplex as "Dallas?"
Fort Worth has a lot more O&G exposure than Dallas does.

And the beauty of being in the same metro is a lot of those jobs in Dallas are being filled by folks from the FW side.

I like Fort Worth - and I like that it's close to Dallas but markedly different than Dallas. If I had to live in the metroplex I'd definitely prefer living on the Fort Worth side, even if I worked on the Dallas side of things. Don't get me wrong - they're both good cities in their own different ways, but I like the pace of Fort Worth life better. That's just me.

They complement each other real well if you ask me. Fort Worth would probably be doing worse if Dallas wasn't close by for FW residents to find jobs in for example. In the future O&G could boom and it could be the opposite, who knows. I know people who work in downtown Dallas for the Morning News and other companies who could easily live in Uptown but instead live in Fort Worth or west of it. I live in Dallas County and love Dallas but I also love FW's laid back, old western feel, cowboy culture. Although people outside of the metro assume they are one and the same they are really different. Those contrasting employment growth numbers posted above prove it.

When I was last out in that part of Texas 5 years ago I was still shocked at the abundance of things.
