You shouldn't be disappointed as ya'll is a very common word here

You will sure hear plenty of that! Honestly, I don't know how people communicate effectively without using that wonderful word.

Note: "Ya'll" is two or more people. But "all y'all" (which you will also hear) is inclusive of an entire group of people.

For instance:

"Y'all come on. We gotta get to the state fair before it gets too hot and crowded."
"Who all's going?"
"ALL y'all - at least that's what I thought. Come on! Get in the truck! Roasted corn and funnel cakes are waitin' for us!"

I'm from NC and I've heard y'all WAY more in Texas than I ever did back in NC.

I grew up in "the city" so I never say y'all. I prefer "you guys", but I'll agree that "y'all" is gender neutral for all of those PC people.

Even President Obama says "y'all", and he's not even from the South-maybe he picked it up when he came to Texas to eat bbq

Y'all is more normal than you think.

Lol, good one.

Don't have much of an accent (that's what they all say right), but y'all is one southern word I used a lot! It's funny when I lived in SoCal and heard y'all a few times from natives. Even tho they think we're all hicks.

I just noticed last night that my neighbor (from Houston) says "Windsdee" for Wednesday. LOL.

I'm from Long Island so I can't complain about accents. I cover mine up pretty good but it comes out when I'm either drinking or angry.
