I have spent many vacation weeks in Donna, Farr and Zapata. No problems.

It's a legitimate question. No need to attack.

Im going to rant for a bit becausw this hate and animosty i see towards this region so much here gets me fed up already. Im new to texas been here almost a year, born and raised in Orgeon around Salem and Portland. I love traveling this beautiful country, but being a young dark skin hispanic ive lived through racism and prejudice. Ive visited areas in this country and in this state where I feel like Im the only dark skin person there where I get looked at or treated differently. Never have i ever since being in this beautiful triving area have i felt like an outsider or looked at differently. Never have i went to the grocery store or mall and felt i was unwanted there from others like ive witnessed from other parts of this country. Yes this is a very hispanic populated area but i have never felt the race tension and prejudice that the media and the rest of the country deals with secretly daily in 2016. This area i feel, honestly, is a haven for non racism americans. I dont see people here as white black or brown. All shades of people live here. And what i love about here is I can travel and drive to Small town USA and small town Tx where its 80-90% white and come back home and have a sense of "ahh" a sense of "home" and a sense of being equal. And i predict many of you will debate this post but the thing is if youre white and oblivious to admit that there is racism in this country alive and triving, then your comment means nothing! This is what minorities in this country deal with, maybe not daily, but at least will encounter in their lives. The only reason i see hate to the RGV is because its hispanic majority. No other reason. Poor because its full of mexican... because mexicans are poor
