My husband was transferred to Mexico and currently lives in Brownsville. In June we plan to move to Harlingen with our two kids in elementary school. They are hockey players, and I plan to take them to McAllen to play. Can anyone tell me the quality of hockey there? My son now plays travel hockey and will be a Pee Wee in the fall.

There are several minor league professional hockey franchises down that way. I don't know if any of them run youth programs. Because obviously there's no ice outside, a lot of youth hockey in Texas is limited to places with indoor rinks and to those who can afford ice time and equipment...

That's going to be a hellish commute for you from Harlingen to McAllen for practices, matches, etc. At least 45 minutes each way, depending on where you live in Harlingen. The kids may have to find another sport as hockey isn't big in the Valley.
