22 year who graduated in 2016 with Bachelors in Sociology. I have been "teaching" kids since I was 16 years old in a few different settings, and I think I would be a good teacher! I am interested in the alternative certification programs, but I wonder if anyone here had any insight to which programs were good (I'll be in Austin) (or Texas Teachers...is that good), and any other info. Thank you!

Any certification program is fine. Texas Education Board has a list of approved programs from which you can choose yours according to your location (Austin is Region 13): https://secure.sbec.state.tx.us/SBEC...ograms.asp?s=3

Your main concern should be the subject/area you want to teach. If it's science, math/algebra, or if you're bilingual or Special Ed you should be able to find a teaching position fairly easy.

Make sure you're prepared for the test (TExES), it's not hard but if you're not ready you won't pass it.

Here is the link where you can review released tests: ETS :: TExES Preparation Manuals

Preparation resources: ETS :: Test Preparation Resources

Good luck, you'll do fine!
