So some must haves...

Lots of things to do, mainly bike riding, fishing, camping, shooting. Other outdoorsy type things as bonus.

Decent sized Christian school within daily driving distance.

Diverse as we are a White/Asian family. Diverse as in, mixed races, races other than white are not a sore thumb.

Diverse as in, all races in the area are working class, not at poverty level or anywhere nearby.

Outskirts is fine, if needed, but not so far out that kids can't easily hang with neighbor kids.

And to finish, we are conservatives, Bible believers...not that it may matter to some.

Any areas look good for us or stay the hell in Cali?

Do you need a job?
What's your housing budget?
Are you willing to pay for that Christian school?

The cities of Lubbock and Abilene jump to the fore because both have "Christian" colleges that are very well known and populations that tend to be more conservative generally than other locales in Texas.

You could probably add San Angelo and Amarillo to that, too. OP: Look at these cities on a map. You know where we're going with this.

You might want to check out the suburbs/towns southwest of Fort Worth: Benbrook, Granbury, Cleburne, Glen Rose - all the way down to San Angelo. All nice, conservative places to live if you don't need city amenities. Main drawback is of course weather: heat is no worse than rest of Texas but that region is prone to flash floods and tornadic activity.

Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington is not really an outdoorsy area.I think Abilene,Angelo, and Lubbock could work fine for yall possibly.

Oh well, you've all "thrown" most everything out there, lol.

So, for my 2 and half cents worth. lol Go East toward Tyler and all the smaller towns around it, for conservative, Christian schools, and very outdoorsy activities. Really seriously, a GREAT place for kids, families.

Actually on this forum, it could be "bad mouthed" for being conservative, TOO family and Christian, you know, not a big time, major party hardy town.

But, a very nice zoo, just visited again this morning when it was cooler weather, I've got a season pass, watched the elephants take a bath and search for something in the bottom of the pool, and watched the kids feed the giraffes, as we sat in the overlook African section enjoying our breakfast in the three leveled seating overlook.

After that went out to Lake Tyler Marina and watched all the boats come in and out as people swam in the sandy beach area, enjoyed a snack outside of the restaurant patio area overlooking the lake enjoying the water skiing, barges, jet skis, water activities in the beautiful wooded scenic area of East Texas.

Tough to have to live in such a boring area, lol. This doesn't count the three mountain bike trails nearby, and Tyler State Park, and the Rose Rudman Trails, and South Tyler Trails, and if that doesn't get the adrenaline rush going enough, we jump in the car hit the interstate to Dallas, to do the mega metro "rush" partly provided by the "hectic" panic of the near 7 1/2 million metro population, everyone out hurrying about for all the "gusto" possible. lol
