Yep. It's the farthest North, far from large bodies of warm water (or any water), fairly high elevation (for Texas) of about 3k feet above sea level (compared to Dallas at 600 feet) and wide-open to wind.

Lubbock and Amarillo are the two snowiest big cities in Texas.

El Paso has gotten snow on occasion, but not on a regular basis...
Sherman/Denison along the tx/ok border--north central tx has seen some snow now and again...
mostly we get ice storms in the winter...we got a dusting of snow last night but it's gone now

Tx/Ok panhandle is the only place that get any measurable amounts on a regular basis to my knowledge...I've been in this state going on 32 years...

We had 5" of snow sitting on the ground this morning just north of Lubbock. It's 63F now though and about gone.
