And only now I'm starting to kick myself for not going to see the site of the Branch Davidian siege.

I admit I did scout some places to get an "Arlen" vibe.

I loved King of the Hill as a kid, and I've made note of it quite a lot on the Texas forum, the only city that kinda came close for me was Tyler and Longview.

I went to the site of the Branch Davidian compound. There’s nothing to see. I did have the “privilege” of listening to a member spout some batsh** conspiracy theories under the guise of giving my group a talk about what happened.

Interesting side note:

When David Koresh was holed up in his compound, I went on a business trip to the Waco area. I saw a guy selling T-shirts on the side of the road near the compound. I bought one - it has a drawing of Koresh looking out over the top of the compound and saying "We ain't never coming out."

A few weeks later - well, most of them didn't come out.

Morbid, huh?

I still have that T-shirt. Of course, I've never worn it. Not sure if it's worth anything but I think it's macabre.

Imagine, there are people out there who bought bumper stickers from Timothy McVeigh there during the siege.

That gives me the creeps.

I bought my T shirt from some old guy so no worries there. Other than the very macabre nature of it.

Oh that's nothing, here in Arizona. Many of the places McVeigh frequented and worked at in Kingman are still there.

Kingman, AZ, where he built the bomb and got the Ryder truck, is where he lived for several years from 1991-1995. The True Value hardware store he worked at is still in business, the video rental place where he rented "Blown Away" (Starring Tommy Lee Jones) still has the VHS tape that McVeigh rented several times in 1994 and is still in business. The trailer he lived in is still there in the same RV park.

It is beyond macabre.
