hey all
looking for information on bedford or somewhere else??
I'm planning on relocating to Texas within a few years and need some help
I don't speak spanish only english,I'm white female early 20's with a little girl who will be turning 4 by the time I plan to go
I'm looking for more of a small town thats safe not too expensive has apartments or houses that would rent out a basement I can only afford up to $650,with preschools and babysitting options with an active church community, has bars-diners and stores ( which are the only places I would have experience working in ) and that has things to do for smaller kids, thats in easy access to a bigger city if possible
I dont care if it gets very hot cause I like the warmer weather better and would like to be in distance as well to a pool lake or beach
I know this sounds like alot of stuff to ask for but if any of you know a place like this it would be greatly appreciated to hear your information
thanks in advance
feel free to p.m me if u want

Hi baby_firefly,
We live in Hurst, next door to Bedford and have lived here for 7 years. Before we moved into our house in Hurst, we lived in Bedford for three years at a complex called Pecan Creek. They were older apartments, built in the 70s but in decent shape. The neighborhood is decent there, and our rent 7 years ago (for a two bedroom, 1000 sq/ft.) was about 650. Ichecked on rent.com and saw that it is around 550 to 650 (still around the same as when we were there). Bedford is a nice community, but I would look NORTH of Hwy 183 because everything South of 183 is not quite as nice and there is some crime there from what I understand.

Plenty of access to the big city - Bedfor is smack dab in the middle of the DFW metroplex (5+ million people). There are lots of lakes in the DFW area, albeit they're drying up now due to the extended (extended, extended, extended) drought we are in. I said extended three times because this lack of rain has been going on for two years now. Pecan Creek, as do most complexes has a pool. There are lots of restaurants, dining, and shopping. The zip code is 76021 (at Pecan Creek). Bedford is close to the DFW airport.

Hello!
I am 32, and although I enjoying traveling a lot, I have lived in Bedford since I was born. I understand wanting to find a reasonably priced apartment in a good community--Bedford would be great for you. My husband and I recently bought our first home here, but lived for a year in an apartment complex that is VERY well maintained, managed, quiet and safe. The Amherst Apartments are great. We had a 900 sq ft 1 bedroom w/ study and paid roughly $750 monthly. Specials vary, of course. Several families w/ children live there, as well as mature adults. A large open treed park is on one side, as well as a nice pool. If you have a school aged child, you'll be pleased to know that HEB is a coveted school district, and home prices reflect that.

Transportation here is very different from that in NYC, but I work in downtown Dallas and take the Trinity Railway Express train. You must have a car here to get anywhere in the suburbs, but you can take the TRE to Dallas or Fort Worth. This suburb has lots of restaurants--its known for them--and you'll see many of them coming into town from DFW airport on Hwy 183.

Good luck!
