Here's a closeup I took last year of a field of bluebonnets in Arlington off of Division and Collins. Unfortunately, it's near the construction site of the new Cowboys stadium. They're razing everything around the place so I'm sure it'll be gone soon.

Default Thank you!!

Thanks blueskies49 !! (Love your handle! Have granddaughters Sunshine and Sky!)

Great picture! That is my new wallpaper!

So, I take it that not everyone is overjoyed about the new stadium?!?!?
Being a BIG Cowboy fan, I thought it would be a good thing, but if they are wiping out the bluebonnets, well, I don't know!
Are they raping and pillaging the land?

I don't want to get too OT but just to say that there is a thread or two somewhere about this. And I would describe what they're doing as exactly that - raping and pillaging the land! I live nearby and you should see the mess while they're building new roads, highways and overpasses. Placing concrete over where the bluebonnets used to grow and tearing down mom and pop restaurants that we used to frequent.

I've been hearing reports that we might not have as many bluebonnets as in previous years. I hope they're wrong, and I thought we had some decent enough rain in the winter and recently. And rain is expected this weekend. Maybe they'll bloom late......

We have them on the south end of Mopac and on Slaughter Lane in South Austin. They look great this year.

G'day from Melbourne, Australia. I have bluebonnets in bloom right now where I am. It's the wrong season for it to be blooming (early fall in Australia), but I sowed them in late Spring (Oct), and they all survived our scorching summer, and began flowering during summer! Amazing. I have started a new batch for our SPring, and the first seed has just sprouted today.

Cheers.

If anyone has some new season pics of bluebonnets in bloom in the Lone Star State, please email them to me! I can email pics of my bluebonnets in Australia, too.
