Ok Belle, you win:

Come to my casa' and I will cook you a plate of King Ranch Chicken that will make you hug me. We can toss back a couple of Shiner Bocks or Lone Stars and be friends.

Or I will meet you half way on TX 71 with a hot plate and cold beer. I am a really simple guy with a nice place. I harm no one.

Hell, if you make me, I will buy case44 a straw hat. But he has to come to Austin since hat fittings are like buying a gun - lock and load is easy. Lock, load and shoot - well that is truly a challenge.

Regarding the straw hat, I think I already drank that Kool-Aid. It's time for something more traditional. You can buy me one if the hat fits.

Interesting thread. My hubby was a cowboy in his younger days. Farm/ranch/rodeo, etc., before I knew him. Hung his hat up unfortunately. I love me some cowboys! I will have to get his opinion on the hat wearing thing. Don't see many cowgirls but I love them as well (not in that way!). Me, I'm just a little ol' city girl.

LOL!!! So you like far West Texas, huh?

If I ever come back to TX to live, that would be my area of choice. I really do love it, but it has serious drawbacks as to isolation and having to drive to Midland-Odessa for major medical/shopping, et al....

bellestaroftexas: Yeah, Shiner (Bock)! It's my favorite.

I like cowboy hats (got a few of 'em myself), but I do wish that people would take them off indoors. That is, unless they're at Billy Bob's or a saloon.
