I always thought it was funny that the Yates Oil Field was located near Iraan, Texas. I thought maybe Iraan was named after the country of Iran due to some sort of oil connection with the Middle East. But it turns out Iraan is simply the combined names of the prior land owners Ira and Ann Yates.

Hardly anything to do with the subject I know, just something that popped into my head as I drive thru West Texas several times a year.

Time to pass Russia and Saudi Arabia. I expected Saudi Arabia to be in the Top 2, but didn't expect Russia to be there.

Russia is a HUGE oil powerhouse,I don't think it'll be that easy to pass them unless something catastrophic happens over there.

Even though it is off subject I found this to be interesting. Thanks for including it.

I am so glad that the Permian Basin is doing so well in this oil boom.

Russia pretty much supplies all of Europe with oil and natural gas. That's the whole reason for Syria.

Which is interesting because those European countries are supposedly our nato allies but they are funding the military of the country that NATO was founded to protect them from.

The US and Canada could provide huge amounts of gas and oil products to Europe but countries like Germany go to Russia instead.
