Greetings Ever'one
I wanted to come on here and tell you all about a story that came about when I was once asked by my kids, about this time of year, when one said "Daddy what is that holiday Yom Kippur?"
SO I told them to pull up a chair and listen.

Yom Kippur is a very important Jewish Holiday All over the world, Jewish people gather with family and friends for a big feast. A tradition dating back thousands of years. First, they don't eat for a day. Then, lots and Lots of food is cooked, including a big ol' tender brisket, Noodles, and honey cake for desert. After all the eatin's done, they go outside to a campfire, and the older people tell the younger ones stories of Jewish faith, fables, campfire tales, all of which help to shape the Jewish faith. In modern times, traditionally, the stories begin with the telling of the adventures of Yom Kipper, the Jewish Cowboy.

In the time of the old west, there lived a Jewish Cowboy named Yom Kipper. Yom had left his home in the east and moved out west looking for adventure and money. trying his hand at different jobs, he finally made it into Texas, where he discovered that his horse riding skills and ability to rope made him a natural for cattle driving. But not just cattle driving, because during a cattle drive, Yom was could ride faster and further than anyone. When a steer or a calf got out of line, Yom was there before anyone to rope him and bring him back into the fold.
After making money at Cattle Drives, Yom became bored and took up another profession, quite by accident
It seemed that a nearby ranch had been raided by Cattle rustlers, and Yom asked the owner if he could go after the bad guys and get him cows back for him. The owner agreed, and Yom went out along with a few men from the ranch. Yom followed a trail and after a few days, came across the branded cattle and the rustlers. In the flash of an eye, Yom rode into the camp, guns blazing, and roped all the cattle and the rustler's too ! On returning to the ranch, the owner gave Yom 12 gold pieces for his hard work.

So was born a new job for the legendary Jewish Cowboy. Words of his abilities and expertise in riding and roping spread like a Texas field of Bluebonnets. Soon farmers and ranchers from all over the state were asking Yom to help them find lost and missing animals. And as his reputation grew , so did his bank account. But Yom was not proud; to him, a good work ethic was what mattered most. Yom always kept his word and did what he agreed. But when sometimes other's didn't then things happened.

One day, he rode into Independence TX where a farmer stopped him and told him that most of his goats had run off. NOt wanting to disappoint the farmer, Yom said that he would bring them back for a fee and an agreement was made. Hands were shaken on the deal. Yom rode off into the sunset, two days later he rode back along with 22 goats all roped together. He took them right to the farmer, who recognized them as his. Yom rode them into the pen, closed the gate and asked for his money. The farmer refused. Yom reminded him that they had a deal, but the farmer refused to pay. SO Yom went to the town lawyer, a shyster of sorts who was of no help. So Yom rode away, shaking the dust from his boots. But God was displeased, and brought a curse upon the town of Independence, causing it to disappear into Texas dust, and become no more.

So Yom rode to the West Texas town of Big Springs, where townspeople had complained that the Comanches had stolen their best horses. Yom said he could get the horses, and he rode off into the sunset. For days he was gone, but one night, on the trail of the Indians, he found the townspeople's horses all tied up at an Indian camp. Quietly, under the cover of a starry Texas sky, he sneaked up to the Indian camp, united the horses, took them all at once and led them back to their rightful owners.
The people of Big Springs wer happy to have their property back, but they too refused to pay. The sheriff of the town came out and told Yom to get out of town. "We don't like your kind here"
Yom warned the sheriff that if he was not treated fairly, a curse would be brought upon his town.
And sure enough, God caused plagues of droughts, insects, snakes and all other matters of ruthlessness to prey upon the town. And the townspeople were angry and scared, and said "Go get that Jew and let's hang him up!" But when they went to find Yom, and angel of the Lord appeared in the desert, saying "Woe unto you who harm God's chosen. For until ye repent, Life will not be bearable" And the people turned back in fear, for they were afraid of what they had seen
The townspeople got together and said "Let us build more churches and maybe God will be happy with us. But they did not repent, nor did they accept and forgive, and the town became drier and more filthy. Over the years, famine, drought, floods and insects all took turns raving the town.

Then one day, a rich man said "Then let us build a skyscraper, pray on top of it, and maybe God will forgive us" but God was angry and caused the rich man to go broke. And after he lost all of his money, the poor residents of the town said "Let us build mot churches and try to get on God's good side" But the people, being gentiles, and being hostile to Jews, continued to suffer, and to this day, barely exists. And God appeared saying "Woe unto ye forever, for I have sent one of mine own people to help you, and your selfishness and ignorance has brought you only doom and despair. Go and weep, and relish in your future of inadequacy and decline. For all you do, you will fail."

Meanwhile, Yom took his riches and went back East, and after tithing to God, built a school and a library, to which knowledge and faith could be taught. And students attended his school and met with great success in life. Yom's legend and story his name became famous as one who unites, and one who educates, but for the poor souls who offended God, they suffered to the end, and suffer to this very day.

So is the Legend of Yom Kipper, Jewish Cowboy and hero.
