Well, in spite of the big metro areas going blue, Texas remains red. Wakeup call to everyone - everyone. Pay attention!

I’m surprised by how close the governor’s race was. Lupe Valdez was a terrible candidate.

Right but what I'm saying is that there is still a whole lotta Texas out there that's red. But the metro areas are growing so fast, people in "red" areas need to really pay a lot of attention because if they're not strategic and don't adjust their goals and message, the state of Texas may end up being completely dominated by urban metro areas.

That is what happens when you cast a straight ticket ballot and do not change anything.

Midland-Odessa, Abilene, Amarillo, and Lubbock are the only sizable standalone areas now that are red.

All of which are just about the size of a typical DFW / Greater Houston area suburb.

But I'm more than positive those areas will stay red for a much longer time...

Strawman argument. Conservative/Moderate Democrats always lose to Republicans by wider margins. Mike Collier is a good example. Paul Sadler lost to Cruz on his first election by a wider margin than Beto.

It has been obvious for years Americans don't trust one party controlling everything. I personally prefer divided goverment as the checks on gubbermint are far more robust when there is divided government.
Like 2014? Republicans took over Congress completely. Where was the check and balances on that?

Of course she was a terrible candidate. That's what happens when you don't have money!

Meanwhile, Harris County tossed out all GOP incumbents in county government. Even likable Moderate Ed Emmett was forced into retirement yesterday. Those negative sexual harassment ads--like Emmett's teasing downballot ad--against Garcia didn't work either, due to the Trump effect, and created an all-blue county commission. The entire court system is now in Democratic hands.

Fort Bend County also unseated their County Judge, Bob Hebert, and former Assistant DA Middleton put the DA position back in Democratic hands, after Healy's long tenure.

The local and state races across the U.S. were severely affected by the Blue Wave, thanks to the tainted GOP brand! The coasts stayed solid and the Great Lakes region is relenting from GOP leadership.

The Tyler metro area is red. The metro area is larger than that of Abilene and is similar to that of Midland. Smaller than Amarillo's metro area by about 50k.

Waco is similar in size and is also red. Same with Longview. Also, the Woodlands and Denton. I haven't looked up any others yet.

She benefited from Beto I think. I know some must have, but I don't think alot of people split their vote Abbott/ Beto.

I agree she was a terrible candidate though. I listened to about 1/3 of their debate and she sounded clueless, I don't care what your political opinions are, she sounded bad. They didn't run her to win, they put all the eggs in the Beto Basket.
