A lot of us have. It's quite nice. The services are good, the workers are responsive and competent, the schools are good, etc. What are the advantages of living in a state like Oklahoma where schools are only open four days a week, teachers are fleeing for other states, and state troopers are only allowed to drive 100 miles a day to save gas?

I have! States where the government is driven by the principle of service to citizens are just better run. As opposed to serving special interests like business and religion.

In 2018 turnover rose even higher to 19.3% https://www.cbs7.com/content/news/Re...504060881.html https://www.texastribune.org/2019/01...ees-last-year/

And the legislature has no plans this session to give state workers a raise. If they decide to take up that issue next session, that would take effect in 2022 which would be be 7 years since the last small raise (2015).

i see no problem at all
its real simple if you want to earn more start a business or leave and take your skills to the private marketet and see what you are worth

other than the state police and related toys of workers i see no reason to pay them more than 30K to push paper around

You may have no idea what the state does but you need the services we provide. Currently the long waits at Driver License offices is a political issue because it directly impacts Texans, and it's gotten so bad that the governor is lashing out at the DPS deputy director who testified at the legislature that the reason is low pay and resulting lack of staff.

DFPS also had a big scandal in 2016 and it was a direct result of low pay. In that case the legislature stepped up and raised their salaries significantly.

Now what about the rest of the state workforce? That includes not just police. Look at this list of state agencies https://www.tsl.texas.gov/apps/lrs/agencies/index.html

You need those agencies and the people staffing them.

1). We are in TX not Oklahoma.
2). Oddly enough many of the schools that switched to 4 day weeks, and it was a distinct minority of schools not all or most schools as you implied, received exceptional numbers of resumes from teachers looking to work four day weeks.
3). RE Oklahoma teachers pay....

A rough average for Oklahoma high school teachers pay is $45,240. A rough average for the same in New York is $72,000. The problem is when adjusted for COL and buying power vs. the national average COL Oklahoma teachers make $49,990.20 vs. $50,832 for New York. FWIIW the Texas avg. high school teachers pay is $56,756 adjusted for buying power that's $59,650.

4). The 100 mile limit on OK Highway Patrol was in place for a few months a couple of years ago.
