Like the title says, what areas are considered top notch for IT related jobs? Is it Houston? Dallas? San Antonio? I'm currently in NY and would possibly move to TX so wanted to find out which areas to focus on.

IT profile: more than a decade of software development and management experience.

Please share your thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

The DFW is one of the top 5 largest metros in the country and Houston is not far behind. It would be hard to argue that either of those two areas don’t have an abundance of IT jobs. If you’re looking for more of a “hub”, then Austin is it, since it at least seems to be the main source of job creation in the city. I’m not as familiar with San Antonio but it is larger than Austin by a good bit, and I can’t imagine it would be hard to find an IT job if you wanted one.

What I’m getting at, is that you could probably live in any of the large cities if your only requirement is that there are IT jobs.

Have you ever been to any of the large Texas metros or are you throwing a dart at a map and hoping for the best?

If you haven't done so already I strongly suggest you visit places like DFW and Austin in late July or early August so you can get a feel for how truly miserable their summers are.

San Antonio would be the worst of the 4 mentioned. It also probably has the worst schools.
