Two thoughts:
1. It's frustrating that the highest ranked TX hospital is ranked 34.
2. It's interesting that the top two in TX are in Dallas. UTSW and Baylor downtown. I delivered both my kids at Baylor so I'm biased.

I don't give much credence to lists. I'm sure both Dallas and Houston have some excellent institutions. Personally, in making any sort of judgement, I would put more weight on having a physician(s) that are good and are paying attention. The staff that support them are very important also, so that's where I think that insitutional rankings could be important, if one could trust them.

I have been in the hospital many times and have unfortunately spent a lot of time visiting family in the hospital. Until you've done that at many different hospitals it's hard to understand how different quality of care can be from one hospital to another and how so much of that depends on more than just the doctors.

Baylor seems like the most reliable name in Texas with people trusting their consistently high standards in all of their institutions. Would you place Baylor School of Medicine in same tier as Johns Hopkins and Harvard?

Note that this is the 2019 list. The 2020 list (https://www.newsweek.com/best-hospit.../united-states) has the top hospital in Texas in Houston (Methodist).

Hence, the issues with these types of lists - this type of stuff changes all the time.

These are general hospitals. MD Anderson is a specialty cancer center, wouldn't be ranked here.

If they aren't in the top 10, then the hospital personal doesn't deserve what they are getting pay wise.

The Baylor/Scott and White hospitals that are on this list is not the Baylor School of Medicine which is located in Houston. They have no affiliation with each other (they did back in like 1900 but have severed ties since then)
