Well, someone posted the Bureau of Labor statistics October 2007-2008, and it's Houston edging out Dallas in total and percentage job growth (although they are both doing very well).

Good news for Dallas, though: they still have the market cornered on big hairstyles, and President Bush is buying a house there.

So I guess we'll have the elder Bush in Houston and W in Dallas...

Yes I've been to Houston and I still stand by my statements. I never said Houston is a bad city. In fact, I enjoy going there on a regular basis. But you can't deny that for being the 4th largest city in the country, it really lacks any true identity other than the fact that it became what it is today because of the oil boom. Of course now it's completely diversified and has several large industries, but you just don't get any specific feeling or expectation when you go there. It's generic...as I said before. Sorry if I hurt your feelers but it's the truth.

I doubt anyone thinks "Oh Space City" when you say Houston. Gimme a break.

Fourth largest city in America, yes, but it's only the sixth largest metro area. You are the first one I've heard say they don't get a vibe from Houston and it's just generic. I'm sure you were in a layover at Hobby or something.

And no, it's not the truth.

New York City
Chicago
Miami
New Orleans
Seattle
Orlando
Denver
Las Angeles
Atlanta
Boston
Houston?

Come on. I second grader could pick out which one doesn't belong on that list. Again, I'm not saying Houston is a bad city. It just doesn't stack up against all the other, more well-know cities when it comes to identity. It just happens to be a big city.

Wow. You are so off. For one, you try to say a second grader could pick out which one doesn't belong, yet you make plenty of mistakes in typing (the bold parts). Now, how does Houston not stack up to Denver, Atlanta, Seattle, etc.? This is merely just your opinion. You try to say it's fact when it is not. Stay in Corpus. I highly doubt you've even been to Houston with what you type.

Wow. Thanks for the grammar lesson. I didn't know I was being graded on my posts. I've been to Houston many times. In fact, just got back from a five day trip there. Had a blast (never said it was a bad city).

And of course my comments are opinions. Do you really need to state that? I thought that was a given?

As for my list, didn't you automatically think of something when you read each city's name? Examples...

Denver-most people think mountains, skiing
Atlanta-most people think southern, southern hospitality
Seattle- most people think high-tech, nature, fresh seafood markets
Houston-????????
(I doubt most people think "Space City". That's a stretch.)

And yes. I think I will stay in Corpus Christi. That's a great idea. That's the first thing we can agree on.

You had just said earlier that "it was a fact"...

(just to let you know, you don't ski in Denver)

When people think of Houston, they most likely think of NASA (Mission Control, 'Houston We Have A Problem...'), and oil. That's what Houston is known by to a lot of people in the nation (if you don't count sports teams or entertainers).

Kind of like you don't fish in Houston. You fish in Kemah or Texas City.
