I'll do my own review on Houston...

Good: Suburban-style housing close to the central business district, great ethnic food, the good Houston ISD public schools, friendly people, world-class medical facilities, good job stability

Bad: The bad Houston ISD public schools, some gangs (easy to avoid, though) in sections of the city, Downtown isn't lively enough, bad ozone at times, gasoline dependence, lack of inner city public transit

In-between: Semi-rural, run-down sections of town

You know, I've noticed that too. When me and my family go to the Houston area, we usually stop in Brookshire, TX (about 38 miles west of the City),where most of my relatives are. And there are a few boarded up and abandoned houses and buildings there. It's sad, but I guess it's because we're just on the poor side of town most of the time. But anyway, that's what some neigborhoods look like in Houston....run-down houses and dangerous neighborhoods. But hey, those type of places are in every city.

The Medical Center in Houston is a great place to work... being around thousands of other great medical professionals, hearing about colleagues making medical breakthroughs all the time, all the research going on... love it.

Brookshire is way out there, I wouldn't consider it the Houston metro.

I do know about some of these "rural" areas he speaks of though, around the south part of Beltway 8. It's undeveloped.

Brookshire is forty miles away from Downtown. Once you leave Katy on IH-10, you get about 10 minutes of just the Katy prairies. Flatlands with a few farms.

Quick questions for the 6 cities....
Most of these are just for your opinion.

Houston:
Hey, Katy is officially considered to be a Houston suburb now, right? And do you think the city limits will expand within the next year?

San Antonio:
Do most people in the city really believe that San Antonio has a small town feel to it?

Dallas:
For those of you who live in Dallas, what do you think is the best/worst thing about your city?

Austin:
Do you believe that Austin needs an Interstate loop circling the city like other Texas cities?

Fort Worth:
Should Fort Worth loose its "Cowtown" status to gain popularity?

El Paso:
Is El Paso's location good for the city, or should it be closer to the other major cities? And how bad is illegal immigration there?

The city of Katy itself, though becoming suburban, still has somewhat of a rural flavor. The "Katy area" (includes many places with Katy addresses in between Houston and Katy, including Cinco Ranch, which are in Katy ISD) is definitely a suburb of Houston.

Katy is completely hemmed in by Houston's Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (annex-able areas), so Katy's city limits will only grow if Houston gives Katy permission to expand.

Well I guess that depends, if you like feeling seculded, and cut off from everywhere else, if you like being ignored by your states funding, then yeah I guess it being so far away is a good thing. Also understand we are also an hour behind the rest of Texas, making us even more removed from the rest of the state. ( sorry for being sarcastic here )

It would be great if it was closer, but unless you know some voodoo, thats not gonna happen.

Illegal Immigration is very bad here.

Fort Worth should NEVER lose its "COWTOWN" status-it is ingrained deep in its history
