Strong conservative values, looking for horse properties. From the Midwest so we like “green grass and prairies”
Looking for lots of walking opportunities and friendly, welcoming people. Kids are 17, 12 and 3 so definitely want family friendly and welcoming of “new people”

Very different towns. Nacodaches, I've been through one time so I can't help much.

Although clearly a small city in its own right Weatherford also sports a good number who drive into Fort Worth for work.

As you mentioned green grass and prairies...........Weatherford is just far enough west to look fairly dry even though the area receives ~32" of rain per year.

Nacogdoches gets ~51" of rain.

The look and feel of the country around each town is very different. I've heeard the humidity in extreme East Texas can be ghastly.

We went to Nacogdoches in July. It was hotter than hot, and I live near Houston.

I suspect it is conservative because of location. And a lot of HIGHLY conservative folks from high school went to college in Nac. Just a guess though. Don't know about how friendly it is there, but as a general rule people are friendly in Texas except when on a big city highway.

There is a lot of green foliage around Nac, and a few rolling hills. Beautiful pedestrian downtown, although it is not big at all. I enjoyed the town. Beautiful small university, too.

Never been to Weatherford.

Weatherford has tons of horse stuff surrounding it. There are lots of Cutting horse competitors who live there and nearby. Weatherford area grows a lot of coastal Bermuda hay.

Deep East Texas is not horse country. The land has too many trees and not enough grazing land. The humidity in the summer is horrible!

Interesting take.

My neighbors do lots of horses. My good friend I nursed with about 2 miles down the road rides barrels but only 6 horses. Bulldozers will knock those trees right over, push them up into piles and then you burn them. No trees = pastureland. Then plant higher quality horse grasses that doesn't get burnt by those east of I-35 summers. There's just more rain here and pastures love rain. Plenty of East Texas pasture land. Plus we got them beeg trees where we want them and lots of them.

It is humid . Very nice here the last few days . Nac probably several degrees less (avg) on summertime highs and several degrees higher(avg) on winter lows.

I've spent time in both, though not super extensivly.

Nacogdoches is definatly prettier and I would guess more conservative....also damn humid.

Weatherford is really just an Exburb of Fort Worth at this point...it will be closer to more amenities and I'm willing to bet is quite a bit more metroplitan.

Weatherford has a nice location between Fort Worth and the Palo Pinto hill country. It also has a decent amount of rolling hills and forested areas. Has a small town feel, but close enough to the more populated Metroplex cities for amenities.

I can't find Nacodaches (sounds like a nacho kolache), so I'm going with Weatherford.
