Hi everybody, I am planning on going to the Concho Valley,Hill Country, South Texas and Corpus for a fishing trip next week.Do yall think its safe???CDC advises against traveling but my dad wants me to go.I am starting immunosuppressant medication this weekend so that makes me think it might be a bad idea.

Depends on the immuno supresant in my mind. If it's steroidals I'd consider going. If it's chemo or similar then probably not. Unless your dad's a doctor with a good understanding of this disease transmission then lovingly decline. He would need to construct the itinerary in a way that lessens your exposure.

Outdoors and social distancing are your friends. Wash your hands frequently, carry your own hand sanitizer. Avoid large groups (even smaller groups of unknowns) . If you can't accomplish these goals I'd nix the trip for sure.

My $.02

Solo fishing? (fly fishing in remote areas)
or

Charter / shared boat?

You will desire...
Open space, no other people, no close qtrs, and very careful travel mode choices (food and fuel)

Do you all have to present a negative covid test within 48 hours of driving down? If not, no way. Even if you weren’t immumosuppressed. The shared car ride will be the riskiest part of your entire trip.

Just know that if someone in that car has covid, even if currently asymptomatic, that you’re all coming home with covid. Did you doctor know about your shared car trip? Is there a way to travel separately and meet up there?

No there's not.My parents dont want to consult a doctor about the matter because they dont want to cough off the money for a consultation over the phone. My dad has threatened to punish me if i dont go because he wants my mom to have a break.I already had one covid scare that i had to go to the hospital ER for but thankfully i was negative.

Maybe you should wear a N95 mask while you’re in the car with everyone? If your dad values a fishing trip more than your health, it sounds like you have more issues to deal with. Most telemedicine is $50 a visit so it’s not really that expensive.

1) spend the $50 each for a quick test before leaving. Results in 15 min. (No appointments needed)
2) wear non-vented n95 while in enclosed areas
3) keep your distance from selves and especially others
4) only attend outdoor activities, and eat outdoors. (No buffets)
5) use anti-bacteria wipes for any transactions / fuel / dining areas
6) frequently use a $.50 piece of copper refrigerator ice tubing as a Copper Zapper (nose wand to kill viral particles)
7) no singing in the car! No boisterous laughing or talking (fish stories) in confined spaces.
8) windows down for lots of fresh air / no AC.
Have a great time (while taking precautions)
