Houston-New Orleans trip - Anything fun in between to see or do .... with teenagers?

Any casinos with good deals in their restaurants to attract gamblers?
Any interesting spots like Breaux Bridge, plantations (we already picked one to go and see) or anything else to see or do?

Thanks

If you want a good restaurant deal, your best bet are Delta Downs in Vinton or the Coushatta in Kinder. Coushatta is a little detour, you gotta drive 20 minutes north when you get off the exit, but it’s definitely much nicer than Delta. The Golden Nugget and L’Auberge are much nicer than the first 2 an are directly on the way, but you won’t find any restaurant deals if that’s a must.

The Only problem is that all these casinos are in or near Lake Charles and that area is still recovering from hurricane Laura and Delta. So no telling how the casinos are looking right now. But if you make it to Baton Rouge, there’s another L’Auberge, but it’s not as nice as the LC location.

Billy’s Boudin is a classic shop to stop at in Scott, LA. All the locals of Lafayette will point you there, if you want to try some real Louisiana boudin for relatively cheap. Cajun food doesn’t get any realer than what you’ll find in the Lafayette area.

For food, we always stop at the Chicken on the bayou and Boudin shop in Henderson/Breaux Bridge (exit 115) right next to Landry's. Great shrimp and oyster poboys. Fabulous spicy chicken. Great hush puppies. Think its other stuff is good too, but the poboys and chicken are too good for me to try other stuff. Basically the last exit after Lafayette before you get onto the Atchafalaya bridge to Baton Rouge.

See if you can find anything interesting here:

Couple years ago I had to drive for work there frequently, so this is my observation

I-10 from Houston to Beaumont is incredibly dull. I would take the US 90 to Beaumont instead, then continue on I10.
Or you could drive on I10 to Lafayette then continue on US90 to NO.
Depending on what you want to see or experience, or how much time you could spare, you could take side trips to Grand Isle, Houma/Thibodaux, New Iberia, Avery Island, St. Martinville and Breaux Bridge along that route. LA 1 itself is pretty scenic and the towns in Lafourche are very South Louisiana.
Between Lafayette and Beaumont the trip on I10 is quite boring. Except a stop in Lake Charles or/and Orange.

I always stop at Best Stop Supermarket in Scott (just west of Lafayette) for cracklin and alligator boudin. The cracklin come straight out of the grease, and they will kill you, but you'll die happy.

Orange is run down, but it has a few cultural amenities that would not expect for a town it's size. Look up Shangri Las in Orange. And if you want boudin look for Robert's meat market in Orange or Danny's Food Center in West Orange.

Been to all these and don’t miss any at all. I can’t possibly think of a reason to ever visit orange again now that everyone I know there has moved away.
