It's an Austin restaurant, but I think we all, Texans, need a little laugh.
This restaurant has been putting up hilarious signs that stop all those who pass by dead in their tracks and in a fit of laughter. Every single day, year after year, they set up a new sign. The infamous Austin-based establishment named El Arroyo has been doing this since its opening in 1975. And 45 years later, their signs are still out there cracking everyone up.
Nowadays, they are mostly about coronavirus.
Enjoy!

El Arroyo's signs have been a ray of sunshine for me since they started doing them.

These are real live signs on 5th street right near mopac. It’s a real restaurant that I’ve never eaten at, but it’s on my “must try before I die” list. They even sell books of the signs. I pass by it every once in a while driving downtown. I finally was able to get my own picture of it a few weeks ago. It said, “Remember if you spill the tea, that tea stains.” Some are good, some take some time to sink in, some are really lame.

The appear to think them all up on their own, or make unique variations on existing humor, and for that they get big props from me. I suppose they may actually have a marketing firm help think them up by now, but still good, regardless.

I was a somewhat regular there 'back in the day' when I knew some of the employees there. The food was not great or horrible, but the location was great for an afternoon of drinking. Don't know if they still have it, but if you ordered the 'Federale' plate, it came with a beer to go along with the enchiladas with a over-easy egg on top....

Did a 13 mile run this morning past El Arroyo. I tried to get my group to snap a pic with the sign but we were in a good groove and passed. Today it said, “According to the Advent calendar tomorrow is Christmas.”
