If you want to live in an area of TX that you may be comfortable in... first consider where you will work - then pick a community reasonably close.

It's okay to move to an area that is only somewhat White. I do just fine at my plurality (40%)-White high school.

In that case, if you want job security, try urban or suburban areas...

This Cornell article explains how many rural hospitals are closing.

Then again, if you really wish to help rural areas out, this may be your calling

IMO, if I wanted rural Texas, I would move to the Alpine/Marathon area. I've been to the Big Bend National Park area. The area, with its beautiful canyon views and desert climate, is attracting wealthy people from all over the U.S.

If you wish to have a family:

Brewster County
* The city of Alpine is zoned to the Alpine ISD, a group of three schools
* Marathon is zoned to the Marathon ISD, a small rural K-12 school
* Study Butte-Terlingua is zoned to the Terlingua CSD, a group of two schools
* Some sections of Brewster County are in the San Vincente ISD - A K-8 school - I believe high schoolers go on to Terlingua CSD, but I am not sure

Presidio County
* The city of Marfa is in Marfa ISD, a group of two schools
* The city of Presidio is in Presidio ISD, a group of three schools

well i dont need job security-that isnt an issue when you are a nurse-there are jobs everywhere all the time.
i will probably go back to working prisons-a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility somewhere...much better conditions than working in hospitals.....but i always work on the side at hospitals, even when i am a prison nurse, just to keep my skills up to date......
