Youve obviously never been to the RGV. Cultural issues aside, the RGV has long been designated a “medically underserved area.” Most seniors want access to good healthcare.

OP it's already happening. More and more seniors have been retiring in The Valley over the last number of years.

So far as medical care...........some areas of The Valley are well served some areas are not. Per any existing conditions you'd need to do some specific research.

Very few Texans retire to Florida. That's for Yankees.

1. Florida has lower property taxes.

2. Florida has less "extreme" weather swings in the winter

3. Florida has way more *CLEANER* beaches.

4. Better access to medical care / specialists

5. Less culturally homogeneous (outside of Miami)

I doubt retiring boomers are looking for cultural diversity

I think walkability is a big factor. My great grandparents retired to Florida back in the 70s and they made sure their house was walking distance to church and the supermarket. Most of the RGV seems really sprawly even compared to Florida.

They're certainly not going to move to a place where they're alienated by the local culture.
