Well, if someone is trying to kill or injure me, I'd like an option to try to kill or injure him right back.

No, a gun is not a 100% safety net any more than the covid-19 vaccination...which I've also had.

Vaccines are developed to save and improve the quality of life. Guns are manufactured to kill, maim and injure their intended targets. That’s just an undeniable eternal verity.

I've been in that position before, and I prefer to have an option to it.
Were you in a school, mall, church, restaurant, workplace, concert venue, or movie theater?

I’m going to constitutional carry one time, just to say I’ve done it.

I’m speaking STRICTLY FOR MYSELF, I do not have the training or combat experience to think I could resolve a bad situation with a gun.

If you live in Texas, you won’t need any of that. Hell, you won’t even need a license. All you need is money. Because crime is on the rise everywhere, we need more guns everywhere.

I buy the statistics but not the narrative.

I was trucking through Minneapolis during the height of the Floyd riots and nothing could have seemed less out of place while I was there.

Things aren’t as scary as news wants you to believe. They do it for eyeballs and clicks. In reality, you’re still pretty good if you aren’t putting yourself in a bad position to begin with.

That said, I am acutely aware that when the chips are down, just hand over the goods. Bring a gun out and you’ll drive the bad guy into a life-or-death corner, and if you aren’t steady and experienced enough, the adrenaline dump could make drawing a liability rather than a benefit.

Much of that is per my Pa, a Vietnam veteran and someone who has carried here in Texas almost as soon as he could get a license. An SOG member, he gently drew my attention to that fact without telling me in as many words that I shouldn’t carry. And I have to say, again, STRICTLY SPEAKING FOR MYSELF, I think that’s the right choice.

I would like to get into some two-gun or other competitions where I’m on the clock, as that could be a good proxy for combat pressure and get me to develop good habits under pressure which I can rely on. The fact that I can hit x-rings on a casual visit to the range isn’t enough to say I can follow through if I carry and draw on somebody.

I was in a public place minding my own business.

Also, I had given him my wallet without resistance, which didn't satisfy him.

I would have been happy to call you for help. Would you be help? Then you could be my option.

Glad you made it out alive. Guns are dangerous.

Yes you are so right! I went to the local gun store and bought three more rifles this past week. I'm now down to about five more windows to go. You know a gun for every window!
