They would MUCH MUCH rather enter into partnerships with schools like Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State than any of Big-12 leftovers in Texas.
Judging by the reception UT is receiving on Sec boards, they’d much rather have Michigan and Ohio State than an entitled UT and a broke OU.

As a Red Raider alum....I am glad to be rid of UT and OU. Now...they can go stand in the shadow of Alabama, as A&M did and see how it feels to always play second fiddle. The over all D-bag attitude of UT is one I will not miss.

Not too many warm fuzzies about us going to the Pac 10, as that means our football games will not show in TX until 11pm, but we are mostly a basketball and baseball school, so who knows what a new conference will bring.

None of this is a done deal yet, so it is hard to comment prematurely in great detail.

I’m right there with you. The typical Texas fan glories in comparing UT with schools with less funding and political clout while failing to acknowledge the privileged position it holds in a state that doesn’t value higher ed as much as it should.

While UT would usually beat Tech in football (not always), we regularly trounce them in baseball and basketball. They are VERY full of themselves. Ditto for the Aggies and nobody in Lubbock cried when the Aggies left our conference.

Tech DID give the NFL Patrick Mahomes, while A&M gave them Johnny Football. Don't think I do not love pointing that out to arrogant Aggies. LOL

I also hated the fact that UT got used to sniping successful coaches from smaller colleges...only to grind them down and get rid of them. We were angry when Coach Beard left our great basketball program.

I do worry what a Pac 12 move might do to our baseball and basketball programs. Not sure if it would be good for us.

The other thing I think is odd is how the SEC just keeps on growing. They have so many teams, most schools do not play almost half the conference in a football season. How can the NCAA let one conference get enormous while others wither or go away entirely? Lopsided as can be...

I cannot disagree with any of your post, even though I went to UT.
My granddaughter went to Tech. Two nieces are A&M grads.

The conferences are probably all going to grow to 16, or at least that is my guess, and there will only be four major ones. Each will have to divisions were all the teams play each other, and then a couple of rotating games from the other division. Conference championships will eventually be the first step in a playoff.

Or not. Who the hell knows?

It’s a grift spearheaded by ESPN. They’re not even pretending that’s it’s trickle down. It’s the building bigger barns parable in full display.

"Bigger barns" technically I can't rep you again, right now, so this is my rep.

Of course it is spearheaded by ESPiN.
It is all about the money for all the big programs.

One good thing that will probably come of all this realignment discombobulation - the corrupt NCAA will not control big college sports any longer.
