I’ve been noticing so many Texans (ESPECIALLY in Houston and Dallas) start complaining about new residents “over populating” our state. I get that they bring pros and cons, but if I were to mention HALF of the things people are saying about people coming in, this post would have to be taken down.

Texas is the Friendly State?? Really!?

I don't know anyone that actually feels that way about Texas anymore.

Depending on ones definition of "friendly", I would guess that the folks in Houston and Dallas are generally "more polite" than the folks in huge metros in other states. As far as folks being a "talkative" kind of friendly with total strangers, I find people generally get back the vibe or energy they put out.

I think PS is getting at something much higher-level than everyday politeness to strangers you personally meet...

How many times in this forum have we seen folks saying "Texas is getting too crowded"? When you look at Texas vs. even CA or the NE US, let alone Europe, Latin America, or Asia, that statement is objectively false. "DFW is too crowded." That is a lie. Posters may prefer the 1970s version of DFW (lower population, less diversity), or whatever metro, but there is NO justification for saying that it's too crowded. They can just sit down with that.

I tend to find there is a difference in terms: friendly vs. accepting/tolerant.

The friendliest areas in Texas are quite honestly the least tolerant.

The major urban areas in Texas are less friendly but far more tolerant.

So you ran into a few unfriendly people in the state's largest cities that said disparaging things?

THAT is to stand for the entire state?

Not buying it...sorry.

Somebody always finds something to get offended about and post it on the Internet.

There's always going to be a few in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. Overall though, in terms of people, Texas is by far among the friendliest states I've ever lived in. Chicago, NYC, Seattle are some examples of 'unfriendly' places.

I used to live in Chicago and I honestly found it quite friendly. Agree on Seattle and NYC though.
