Are you saying that Texas is a state full of socialist farmers that rely on government checks to make a living?

not really calif turned blue because way to many lazy sob's wanted free crap and like a governments they cow tow to them for votes. it started with calif state employees back in the 80-90's with over the top pensions, retirement policies and spread to locals. then the cry babies started with i dont have this or that and i deserve it.

simple math - more people with their fracking hand out than those who actually made money and paid taxes. and it has not stopped. so many of us who actually worked and paid our taxes just got fed up and left. others can feed the cows for a while but i stopped years ago except the state still rapes me on my real estate investments there.
All states would have that problem. Alexis de Tocqueville raises it in Democracy in America, written in 1832, so it's not new. Something else must have caused it to flip from the state of Earl Warren, Ronald Reagan, Gov. Dukmejian, Pete Wilson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

What I'm telling you is that all popularly elected governments are under some pressure to spend more than they have. California is not a special case in this matter.

and i am telling you calif legislators are at the top of the list. If they are not spending money they dont have then they are devising ways to steal more money from the tax payers so they can brag about the high pensions they provided, medical benefits to the illegals, housing vouchers to the drug addicts and on and on. Calif has one of the highest overall tax/fees than any state and the only they robbers in sacramento can stay if office is to provide free crap to the dumbass voters who dont want to work. f it was not for the capital gain taxes via stocks calif would be in a world of hurt and guess what its showing its ugly head this year will hundred of millions in short falls.

Lots of state dont bend over so easy especially Texas where we have budget surpluses year after year even with the illegal crap we have to deal with thanks to washington and the do nothing congress and president.

Hell in calif cities all over have utility tax on all utilities coming into homes from gas, elec, phones, cell phones, cables etc my former city it was 6%.

Unless you have lived there like did you have not clue what theses politicians from state and local levels do to take more of your money every year. Calif is special you just dont want to hear it from those of us who have lived through it.

Only recently followed politics, but did the DNC invest in Texas in any meaningful amount before 2018?
